Upcoming Events
Several interesting ideas for future work were put forward at recent meetings.
We want to explore if we can move beyond organizing teach-ins and periodic antiwar demonstrations into other activities:
Speakers Bureau
ECAWAR has several speakers available to speak to high school, university, college classes, union locals, church groups, etc. about various issues. Contact us for more information.

It was George Orwell in his book, 1984, who wrote:
“The war is waged by each ruling group against its own subjects, and the object of the war is not to make or prevent conquest of territory, but to keep the structure of society intact.”

Here are highlights from some of our most recent events:Global Day of Action

End the Siege of Gaza
A rally on February 2, 2008 calling for Israel to remove the walls around Gaza, causing a health crisis.
National Day of Action - Oct. 27, 2007
ECAWAR organized a march and rally calling for Canada out of Afghanistan and the U.S. out of Iraq.
National Day of Action Against Secret Trials in Canada
ECAWAR co-organized a teach-in on October 20, 2007 concerning secret trials and security certificates.
This is a song and slideshow created and performed by Paula E. Kirman. The song, "Walls," was written for the End the Siege of Gaza rally on February 2. ECAWAR decided to use the song as the backdrop for our radio spots on CJSR promoting the March 15 Global Day of Action.
An archive of images from ECAWAR's marches and rallies, as well as other Edmonton-based activist events, are available at RaiseMyVoice.com. Raising My Voice (at YouTube) has a video archive of these events.
